In this busy technological world that we live in we are controlled and prompted by a multitude of sounds and noises all day long. Some people even listen to what they call soothing tranquil sounds while sleeping. We wake up by an alarm clock. We listen to the morning weather and news as we get ready for our day. We drive to work or school and hear ambulances, fire trucks, police cars, honking horns. Our phones and cell phones are ringing and people are talking, instructing and demanding our attention all day. We punch the time clock or hurry to class waiting to hear that breaktime or dismissal bell., just to get home to our families that are talking, the babies are crying, the television is humming. All the hustle and bustle of the world around us is very exhausting. We are so consumed with all the external noises that we very seldom have time to just relax and listen to our inner voices.
The Godhead is triune. We have God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. God the Father is the majestic, creator of Heaven and Earth. The Great I Am. The beginning and the end. No man on Earth has at anytime seen the Father with their naked eyes or heard His voice with their natural ears. John 5:37, "And the Father Himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His shape." We could not bare it. God is a consuming fire that can not tolerate even the slightest of sin. Jesus is His Son, the living Word of God and our blood sacrifice. Jesus is the one who is our mediator to God. Without the pure blood of Jesus covering our lives, forgiving and erasing our sins we would not be able to come into the presence of Almighty God. Jesus Christ says who is allowed to come before God. John 14:6, "Jesus saith unto him, I am the Way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me." The Holy Spirit of God is the spirit sent by Jesus to live within us to lead us, guide us, protect us, reveal to us and communicate everything to us that God wants us to know.
When one gets saved and accepts Jesus Christ as Savior, God in the form of the Holy Spirit comes to live in your heart. We become children of God. (John 1:12, Galatians 4:6, Romans 8:14 &16)When God speaks to us, He then speaks to us through the voice of the Holy Spirit that is inside of us.
God made each one of us with an inner voice. You know that silent voice you have in your head sometime that tells you to do something or not do something? That voice that you hear sometime and you say, "something told me I should do that" That is the way God speaks to you. It is not in a verbal loud voice that you hear with your natural ears. The bible says that God's children hear His voice. John 10:27, "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them and they follow Me." God is a spirit, so when God speaks to us He does it in our spirit man, which is our inner voice. The more time you spend in prayer talking to God and listening to Him talk to you the more you will be able to recognize His voice from the other voices you hear. Discerning and recognizing God's voice from other voices is just as easy as recognizing your Mom or Dad's voice in a crowded noisey room. Their voice is distinct, you just know who they are. Getting familiar with and recognizing the voice of God is vitally important in these last days. God needs to be able to direct and instruct His children daily to keep us safe and blessed at all times. Not only do we need to be able to hear the voice of God but we MUST be willing to be obedient to His voice and instructions no matter what. God is a good Father and He will watch over us daily but we have to be good obedient children and obey Him when He speaks to us.
We are not able to tolerate the real voice of God with our natural ears. God is far too majestic for us to handle in our natural bodies. Our natural ears could not handle His voice and our natural eyes could not tolerate His presence. Looking upon God with our natural eyes would be far more fierce than us staring into the sun. His presence is far too consuming for our frail flesh and blood bodies.
Psalm 29, ..."
When the Holy Spirit of God speaks to us, He takes the voice of the Father and makes it quiet and soft. We could not bare to hear the actual voice of Almighty God. The voice of Jesus from Heaven causes men to fall on their faces as dead. The Holy Spirit is gentle and comforting. The Holy Spirit was sent to take the place of Jesus here on Earth. We receive the Holy Spirit when we accept Jesus as Savior and get born again. Our bodies are then "the temple of the Holy Ghost." The Holy Spirit then lives inside our bodies keeping us in 24/7 connection with Almighty God. God has a perfect plan for each one of our lives. He has everyday and every minute of our lives already planned out. Keeping in touch with God daily keeps us on that wonderful blessed path that God has for us. The Holy Spirit searches the things of God and reveals them to us as we need to know them to keep us blessed, safe and healthy. We can hear the Father talking to us and the Father can hear us talking to Him.
When Jesus was crucified and resurrected He told the apostles they could no longer follow Him but He was sending One, the Holy Spirit, to guide them. The Holy Spirit was the One they were to follow. The Holy Spirit now does the work of Jesus here on Earth.
If we train ourselves to look beyond our natural senses and listen to our spirits to lead us and guide us we will not go wrong in life. We can not listen with our natural senses because it usually goes against the spirit of God. Our emotions are often against the spirit of God as well. Romans 8:5 says,"For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit." And Galatians 5:16-18, "This I say then walk in the Spirit and ye shall not fullfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth after the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh, and these are contrary, the one to the other; so that ye can not do the things that ye would."
The Holy Spirit of God speaks to us as God leads. John 16:13, "Howbeit when He the Spirit of Truth is come, He will guide you into all truth; for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak; and He will show you things to come." In John 14:17 & 26 in the Amplified bible, it describes the characteristics and position of the Holy Spirit. Verse 17 says "The Spirit of Truth, whom the world can not receive because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him, but you know and recognize Him, for He lives with you constantly and will be in you.". Verse 26 says, "But the Comfortor, Counselor, Helper, Intersessor, Advocate, Strenghthener, Standby; The Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in My name, in My place to represent Me and act on My behalf, He will teach you all things. He will cause you to recall, will remind you of and bring to your remembrance, everything I have told you.".....John 16:7 says, " Nevertheless I tell you the truth, It is expedient for you that I go away; for if I go not away, the Comfortor will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you."
The Holy Spirit of God will lead us into ALL truth. He will show us things to come. He will show us things we know not. When the Holy Spirit talks to you He is not in a rush. He takes His time. Do not confuse the silence of God as an answer. It is silence. That usually means do not do anything yet until I say so. We get impatient and want to hurry up and do things. God's ways are higher than ours. He knows when and how to do things better than we do. God's timing is perfect as well. Most of the time we think we need to react to a situation or give an answer to something immediately, but if we just wait and turn it over to God and do not react until we receive definite instructions from God we would be in a better position. Don't be pressured to do anything or make a decision about anything until you hear the instruction from the Lord first. God is the One who put us on a timetable here on Earth so He knows some things are crucial that they be done at just the right time.
Staying pure holy and in the presence of God gives us an advantage over the things in this world that no one can take from us or compete with. We can always be in a better position in life and have exactly what we want in life as long as we are relying on the communication and voice of God on the inside of us. We are children of God a holy family with power and advantages that far exceedes anything this world has to offer. We have access to information and favor and blessings from God as His children that is far greater than anyone or anything that we could acquire here on this earth. It is alright with God if we have the finest this natural world has to offer because He has already given far greater things and prepared a place of elegance and royalty for us in Heaven as our permanent home.
The only way to have access to the voice of God is to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. The only way to recognize the voice of God is to spend time in prayer with Him and listen to Him and get familiar with His voice. No one can do that for you. That is up to you. Again that is a choice you have to make and follow through with.
God speaks to His children in other ways as well. He speaks to us through His written word, He speaks to us through other people, and He speaks to us in our inner spirit man. God's written word and our inner voice is the most reliable. When God speaks to us through other people mistakes can happen. They may not tell you something exactly the way God said to. They may add a little to it, or forget some of the information. This has happened to me and it can cause you alot of trouble if you are not careful. If God sends a message to you through another person, ask God for a confirmation to be sure. If the first message was really from God, then He will send a confirmation.
I want to challenge everyone reading this to spend at least a few minutes everyday reading the bible. The bible is God's life instruction manual for me and you. When youi read the bible, read it as if God was speaking it directly to you. Read it as if God were sharing those stories with you like your Grandparents used to share those "I remember when" stories when you were a child. Those people written about in the bible are just like me and you. They just lived in a different time. Then put aside a certain time everyday to reach out to the Father in prayer and ask Him to teach you to recognize His voice. Tell Him you want to get to know Him better. God created human beings for fellowship. Nothing could please Him more than to have His children come before Him everyday just to say Hi and thank Him for the wonderful blessings He has given us. If you are breathing you have something to be thankful for. When my Mom and Dad were alive I used to make sure I called them everyday just to touch base and say hi, no matter how busy my life was I made sure I did that. Our Heavenly Father desires our love and communion with Him as well. Don't just call out to Him when you need something or have a complaint. Nobody looks forward to those kinds of visits. The more you talk to God, the more He will talk to you and the more you will get to know His voice.
